Healthcare access has been significantly declining for years. Across the country hospitals and healthcare systems are closing urgent care facilities and primary care centers, and cutting out pediatric and other services, just to survive. One of the major factors that has triggered this crisis is the lack of staffing across the healthcare industry.
Our 2024/2025 YOUTH INTERNSHIP scholarship program invites ambitious high school & college students in Vermont and beyond to explore healthcare and medical-related careers through our program. Our goal is to increase interest and exposure to the growing career opportunities in the healthcare industry.
Students will be exposed to fast-paced, busy medical centers (such as urgent care centers, dental and orthopedic practices and medical offices in and around Southern Vermont. Interns will dive deep into general and specific subject areas within science, medicine, and healthcare administration. They will work with skilled and dynamic medical doctors, operations and administration professionals, paramedics and medical assistants among other experts, experiencing all aspects of the healthcare field.
The Be Well VT Youth Internship program will combine hands-on learning, fun excursions, career shadowing, and instruction from experienced faculty and experts in the medical field. A stipend may be available to individuals meeting the criteria for funding.
